“Change Feels as if it Just Happens” With Powerful EMDR Therapy

I have been practicing EMDR Therapy in San Jose for over 20 years.  It has completely changed the way I practice and think about therapy, as well as changing the results clients experience.  My orientation is psychodynamic, informed by congnitive therapy, family systems, object relations, attachment theory, and mindfulness.

The problems people often come to therapy with, can seem unrelated to the past.  Relationship problems that seem to repeat the same patterns over and over.  Reactions that seem out of proportion to the situation.  Certain situations trigger a familiar mind set and emotions, that create overwhelm, anxiety, or depression.  Feelings of just not being good enough, no matter how hard you try.

Often, the past is present, but seemingly unconnected to the current symptoms.  They may be survival strategies that were the best option at the time, but no longer serve a useful purpose; instead, they create pain and dysfunction.  The process can be unconscious and automatic.  The seeds for healing are in making the connections, processing what is unresolved from the present context, and making new choices.

EMDR Therapy is designed to facilitate this process, and allow shifts to occur, where it is naturally no longer necessary to behave from the old beliefs.  Change feels as if it just happens, because you no longer feel the same way emotionally.

I also provide consultation for therapists seeking consultation hours to complete training, or obtain certification.

I would be happy to discuss your situation further to see how EMDR Therapy in San Jose could benefit you.
