Do you sometimes feel miserable and out of control? Would you like a therapist close to you in East County?
Are you interested in developing a balanced approach to the many stresses you face each day? Do you feel you are suffering alone? Feel like you do not belong or feel unworthy? Do you wish to have more joy in your life? Are you empty, confused, overwhelmed, looking for ways to fill the holes? Do you struggle with frequent and persistent suicidal thoughts? Have you acted on these destructive urges or engaged in other self-harmful behaviors? Is it hard to keep healthy relationships? Do you wish to learn how to respond better to others in your life? Would you like to be able to manage your feelings instead of allowing your emotions to control you? All these feelings are common to people who can benefit greatly from my Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) group in my beautiful La Mesa office. DBT Groups are offered at the La Mesa office on Monday at 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM. I have facilitated DBT groups for over eight years at East County Mental Health Clinic.
Cultural sensitivity is very important to me as a Middle Eastern Chaldean Therapist who speaks Arabic and Aramaic. For more than 11 years, I have been providing Cross-Cultural Trainings on Iraqi population to bring awareness, sensitivity and education in the East County Region and through out San Diego county.
I have counseled individuals, couples and groups of many cultures with a variety of treatment needs and have coached them through problems related to family stress parenting and divorce.
My approach to therapy is one of compassion, warm and authentic. I employ a variety of widely researched and effective therapeutic approaches to achieve success in our work together. I am certified in Somatic Experiencing trauma approach and certified in EMDR, trained in brain spotting trauma approach, and trained in DBT approach.
Choices you make today affect your future, making small changes can add up to a more fulfilling life. In a safe, supportive and confidential environment we will work together to maximize your success.
This comment comes from my colleague with whom I worked in a previous setting:
“… Ms. Talia deftly handled the many interpersonal dynamics, group synergies and crises, which naturally occur [in DBT groups].. I was frequently impressed with her ability to resonate with clients and move them forward in their treatment goals.” Donna Hawkins, LCSW.
My clients appreciate the fact that I am down-to-earth, warm, and genuine. My style tends to be informal, high on support, honesty and understanding. My counseling clients come from all walks of life and have a variety of issues.
